Join the Board
The Pennsylvania Playhouse is announcing our upcoming elections for our Board of Directors. Every year, half of our Board positions are up for election to a two-year term. The below positions are up for election to a term beginning January 1st, 2025.
The positions will be voted on at our annual membership meeting on Sunday, December 8th. While the Board has some current members who wish to take another term in their current seat, anyone is welcome to run for any of the positions up for election. We are specifically in need of candidates for the positions of President, Building & Grounds, and Volunteer & Outreach.
In order to serve on the Board of Directors as President you must have served on the Board previously in any position for at least one full two-year term.
Interested parties should submit a letter of intent to board@PAPlayhouse.org no later than October 31st.

President
(Two Year Term Beginning on an Odd Year)
The President shall serve as a member of the Board of Directors and shall be permitted to call all meetings of the Board. The President shall preside over all meetings and prepare reports for the Board and determine the general working policy of the corporation. The President is also tasked with preparing Annual Reports, summarizing the previous calendar year of the organization. The President shall have the power to make emergency decisions in such situations that require immediate action. The signature of the President and/or their designee shall be required on all contracts and agreements binding the corporation. The President shall serve ex officio on all committees and may appoint special committees as they may deem necessary for the management of the Playhouse. The President must have served at least one term on the Board in a different position prior to becoming President. An outgoing President may continue to serve in an emeritus status for up to one year from the conclusion of their term, at the discretion of the Board.

Treasurer
(Two Year Term Beginning on an Odd Year)
The Treasurer shall be a member of the Board of Directors and shall maintain the permanent record keeping and financial transaction records of the corporation. The Treasurer shall be charged with maintaining all operational fiscal accounts of the corporation and shall be one of the signatories of all legal and financial obligations approved by the Board of Directors. The Treasurer shall assure that the financial obligations of the corporation are paid in a timely manner and shall supply monthly reports to the Board regarding the financial activity of the corporation. The Treasurer shall assure that all required filings are made with federal and state organizations and shall arrange for the deposits of all receipts collected by the organization. Technical
(Two Year Term Beginning on an Odd Year)
This committee is responsible for the technical production aspects of the theater operation including operation and maintenance of stage, light, sound, costumes, props, and videography/livestream, and those areas of the building involving same. This committee is also charged with maintaining and inventory of lighting, sound and building materials.

Buildings and Grounds
(Two Year Term Beginning on an Odd Year)
This committee is responsible for the maintaining and cleaning the facilities and grounds. This committee oversees any upgrades to the facility and non-emergency repair upon pre-approval from the Board of Directors. This committee is authorized to obtain outside contractors to perform these services in the case of an emergency or upon authorization of the Board.

Volunteer and Membership
(Two Year Term Beginning on an Odd Year)
This committee is responsible for the recruitment and managing of all volunteers to support the various operating aspects of the theater, including, but not limited to organizing House Managers, ushers, concessions, and any other event for which volunteers are needed. It shall also arrange volunteer events and training volunteers for same in accord with policies of the Playhouse as established by the Board. This committee is also responsible for maintaining concessions inventory and maintaining a current Membership list.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
(Two Year Term Beginning on an Odd Year)
This committee is responsible for leading efforts to maintain fair practices, connecting with diverse segments of our community, general community outreach and helping to ensure that the Playhouse remains a welcoming and inclusive space.

Education
(Two Year Term Beginning on an Odd Year)
This committee shall oversee the educational aspects of our theater, including but not limited to: Youth Theater Camps, Workshops, Community Classes, and other projects approved by the Board. This committee shall also be responsible for outreach to local schools and colleges.
